Brooklyn, NY’s long history includes the Battle of Long Island in 1776 (also referred to as the Battle of Brooklyn, NY), the first major battle of the American Revolution (after the signing of the Declaration of Independence) and the largest battle in the Revolutionary War.
As waterfront development grew along the East River, so did Brooklyn, NY, during the early 1800’s, the city began to double and triple in size.
